Eddy Grant
The Greatest Hits

Review

There are many comments about the positively remarkable impact Eddy Grant has had in his career. The global response to Greatest Hits made another noteworthy statement giving him further distinction.

Legal sales of the CD are reported at over three hundred thousand (300,000) in the first year. It is unlikely that any of his living Caribbean contemporaries, in any genre, could attain this achievement. Listening to this compilation of recordings from the decade starting in 1979 one hears a range of artistry in sound, lyrics, imagery, style, and musicianship.

The giant Eddy Grant identifiers are complemented by gems, for example, “Latin Love Affair”. The seventy five minutes of music is a full concert. While “Electric Avenue” gets an encore on the disc “Hello Africa” and “Walking On Sunshine” can easily elicit repeat plays.
