Winston Duggin
Come Groove With Me

eCaroh Price: $15.95

WINSTON DUGGIN was born in Georgetown, Guyana, and from his pre-teen years, found himself drawn to the guitar. Throughout his teenage years, while attending Berbice High School, he kept peripheral company with some of the notable guitarists in North America.

In 1963 Winston was approached by Bing Serrao of The Ramblers fame to replace him as lead guitarist for The Telstars (the Stars), successors of The Ramblers, and one of Guyana's "top 3" pop bands.

"Duggie" (as Winston is fondly called by his close friends) stayed with "the Stars" and eventually lead them until 1970, during which time period the band opened for such notables as the Tradewinds, Byron Lee and the Dragonaires, Carlos Malcolm, The Mighty Sparrow, and The Merrymen, who hosted the band's mini tour of Barbados in 1965. Later, "the Stars" spent 5 weeks touring England.

In Toronto, Canada, where he lived from 1972 to 1991, Winston performed sporadically with some of the locally-based Caribbean bands, but it wasn't until the mid-nineties, after moving to Florida, that he was propelled into solo work at venues such as Bayside in downtown Miami.

"Come Groove With Me," Winston's first music CD reflects the versatility of this artist gained from years of experience playing both Caribbean and North American popular music.
